About Braskem S.A.

Braskem S.A., along with its affiliated companies, specializes in the production and global distribution of thermoplastic resins. The enterprise structures its operations into three primary geographical divisions: Brazil; the United States and Europe; and Mexico. Within the Brazil segment, the company manufactures and offers a broad spectrum of chemicals, including ethylene, various grades of polymer and chemical propylene, butadiene, butene-1, benzene, toluene, and xylenes. This division also supplies fuels such as automotive gasoline, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), and methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), alongside intermediates like cumene. Its portfolio further extends to aliphatics, aromatics, hydrogenated solvents, and a range of specialty chemicals, including isoprene, dicyclopentadiene, piperylene, nonene, tetramer, polyisobutylene, and hydrocarbon resins. Additionally, it undertakes the manufacturing and sale of both polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP), provides electricity and other essential inputs to second-generation producers, and is notable for its production of green PE derived from renewable sources. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and caustic soda are also among the products generated and marketed by this segment. The United States and Europe segment focuses specifically on the manufacture and sale of polypropylene (PP) across these regions, particularly within the U.S. and Germany. In Mexico, the company is responsible for the production and distribution of ethylene, high-density PE, and low-density PE. Beyond these segmented activities, Braskem engages broadly in the manufacturing, selling, importing, and exporting of chemicals, petrochemicals, and various fuels. It also plays a role in generating and supplying crucial utilities like steam, water, compressed air, and industrial gases, in addition to providing a suite of industrial services. Established in 1972, the company initially traded as Copene Petroquímica do Nordeste S.A. before rebranding as Braskem S.A. in 2002. Its principal corporate office is situated in Camaçari, Brazil.
