Within the Synthetic Fibers division, the company manufactures polyesters, acrylic fibers, and carbon fibers, which are integral components for the textile and apparel sectors. The Resins and Plastics segment is responsible for producing a variety of essential materials: Polyester chips, which serve as inputs for creating polyester fibers, coatings, and various packaging containers. Polyethylene resins and plastics, utilized in the production of insulated cables and agricultural mulching films, as well as a broad spectrum of molded items like household goods and toys. Polypropylene resins, indispensable for crafting films, sheets, and molded products encompassing housewares, toys, consumer electronics, and automotive components. Additionally, this segment produces PVA granules. The Intermediate Petrochemicals unit generates substances such as p-xylene, benzene, and ethylene oxide. These chemicals act as fundamental building blocks for the subsequent production of other petrochemicals, different types of resins, plastics, and synthetic fibers. Through its Petroleum Products segment, the company manages facilities dedicated to crude oil refining. These operations yield a range of refined fuels, including gasoline, fuel oil, diesel, heavy oil, and liquefied petroleum gas. Finally, the Trading of Petrochemical Products segment focuses on facilitating the import and export of petrochemical commodities. Founded in 1972, Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Company Limited maintains its headquarters in Shanghai, People's Republic of China, and operates as a subsidiary of China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation.
