About Nippon Kayaku Co., Ltd.

Nippon Kayaku Co., Ltd. is a global enterprise that, along with its subsidiaries, manufactures and distributes a diverse portfolio of products across various sectors. These core areas include functional chemicals, pharmaceuticals, safety systems, and agrochemicals, serving markets in Japan and worldwide. Established in Tokyo, Japan, in 1916, the company operated as Nihon Kayaku Seizou Co., Ltd. until its rebranding to Nippon Kayaku Co., Ltd. in 1945. Its Functional Chemicals Business segment is a broad supplier of advanced materials. This includes a range of functional materials like epoxy and UV-curable resins, specialized sealants for LCDs and LEDs, maleimide resins, and photoresists and insulating substances crucial for micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS), alongside various cleaning agents and general chemicals. Furthermore, it produces colorants for inkjet, textile, and paper applications, as well as thermal paper materials. The segment also develops catalysts vital for acrylic and methacrylic acid production, and manufactures optical and display components such as polarizing films, inorganic polarizers, and parts for LCDs, projectors, and X-ray analysis. The Pharmaceuticals Business segment focuses on therapeutic solutions, providing oncology drugs (both anti-cancer and cancer-related), biosimilars, and generic medications. It also extends into interventional radiology and cardiovascular treatments. Additionally, the segment supplies bulk drug substances and pharmaceutical intermediates, offers diagnostic agents for cancer, and markets GlycoMark, a key biomarker for managing blood glucose levels in diabetes. Within the Safety Systems Business, Nippon Kayaku manufactures critical components for automotive safety, such as airbag inflators, micro gas generators utilized in seatbelt pretensioning systems, and squibs. The Agrochemicals segment contributes to agricultural productivity and public health through a range of products, including insecticides (for both agriculture and public hygiene), herbicides, and soil fumigants. Beyond its core manufacturing, the company also engages in real estate leasing.
